And a new Splicer sees the day! Unlike my previous addition, the Sly Splicer, this one is based on a very simple concept. A deadly concept...

Research Bonuses[]

  • Level 1: Movable Object Gene Tonic (see here)
  • Level 2: +Damage
  • Level 3: 50% chance to find rare ammo types on corpses
  • Level 4: ++Damage
  • Level 5: Increased weapon damage and accuracy when standing still

Description[]

Whereas the Sly Splicer was fairly short, this Splicer can be easily distinguished by the fact that it's ten feet tall, and skeletally thin. Basically, it looks like what would happen if you stretched a normal Splicer on a rack, with distended limbs and a wire-like torso. It also carries a giant Gatling Gun on its back. These Splicers are fairly slow, although they're almost as tough as a Brute.

If a Sentry spots you (and they'll be able to spot you from a long distance), they'll lay down their Gatling Gun like a turret and start firing. While doing this, they'll be rooted to the spot, although they can still rotate their gun. They also possess a particularly problematic plasmid (alliteration FTW!), which they'll use once you start taking cover. Its effects are simple: once cast by the Sentry, it'll punch a hole through every surface between it and you, breaking your cover. The holes are just circular portals, though, and so disappear after some time, otherwise you'd have levels that'd look like Swiss cheese. In short, it's an immovable object that shoots you with a minigun and breaks your cover.

Evolution[]

Any enemy, even in possession of a Gatling Gun, will eventually be easy to defeat if it can't move and attack at the same time. So guess what they'll learn to do? Right. After the midpoint, Sentries will be able to move while firing their Gatling Gun at you. Luckily for you, though, they're still not very fast, and they need to rev their weapon up before they can start shooting you.

And that's pretty much it. Hope you like it! And yes, I know, that's not an actual Splicer in the picture. How many Splicers did you see running around with Gatling Guns in the game?
