Site performance with the new Wikia skin

Gardimuer February 1, 2011 User blog:Gardimuer

It has been almost four months since the new Wikia skin went live for our site. If you haven't switched to Monobook, then you may have gotten used to it.

Unfortunately, the new layout seems to have had a bad effect on the number of visitors coming to our site and the amount of time they spend browsing pages here: Quantcast statistics for Page-Views per Person on BioShock Wiki

Also, you may have noticed some performance issues when browsing the site. For MegaScience and I, scrolling up and down pages causes obvious lag with images/text seeming to jump up the screen instead of a smooth movement. This may be a symptom of a serious problem with the site. We are not sure how many people are experiencing this, but a poll will hopefully give us an estimate.

Please answer the following poll:

Have you experienced noticeable lag (as described above) while browsing pages on this wiki?

The poll was created at 02:07 on February 1, 2011, and so far 72 people voted.

If you need a comparison for perspective, try looking at these pages on our wiki and others:

This may be a problem that only affects certain browsers, like Firefox. Please, if you answered yes in the poll, leave a comment telling what browser you use.

I have made some changes that hopefully removed/reduced the problem. Please let us know if you have seen any improvement.

Are you still experiencing lag (as described above) while browsing pages on this wiki?

The poll was created at 07:23 on February 7, 2011, and so far 15 people voted.
