A viral website called "There's Something in the Sea" was released on March 4th, 2009, giving hints and clues about BioShock 2. It details the investigation and related writings of Mark Meltzer, a father whose daughter has been kidnapped by a Big Sister. The events of "Something in the Sea" were divided up into three phases of Mark's investigation, each with a separate website.
[edit] Phase One
- For a summary of Phase One, see There's Something in the Sea - Phase One: The Map.
Phase One of "There's Something in the Sea" began March 4th, 2009. It started as a simple map of the world, and over time it was filled with newspaper clipping, notes, and other documents from a person tracking the kidnappings of young girls along the Atlantic coast in 1967. Near the end of this phase it is revealed that the unknown researcher is named Mark Meltzer. This phase also introduces several other major characters.
[edit] Phase Two
- For a summary of Phase Two, see There's Something in the Sea - Phase Two: Mark Meltzer's Room.
Phase Two of "There's Something in the Sea" continues the story where the events documented on the map left off. This phase takes place in Mark Meltzer's office in Montauk, Long Island New York and chronicles his investigation to find his kidnapped daughter, Cindy, in 1968.
[edit] Phase Three
- For a summary of Phase Three, see There's Something in the Sea - Phase Three: The Boat.
Phase Three of "There's Something in the Sea" began November 5th, 2009. It continues where the events of Phase Two left off. In November of 1968 Mark Meltzer sets off on a boat from Baltimore, Maryland to continue the search for his daughter Cindy overseas.
