I must admit, my English is not fully proper and therefore it's just my misunderstanding, but as far as I know, the "increase by 80" means "add 80 to the original amount". The problem is, that the tonic gives only 40 extra ADAM per harvest. The total amount of ADAM per harvest is 80. So we should make this sentence more unambiguous.
