Death from Above and Eagle Strike mutually exclusive?[]

The first time I played through the game I got Death from Above, the second time I had already bought the Season Pass (and therefore got Eagle Strike in the Blue Ribbon) I wasn't able to acquire it again, even with the gear glitch. Can somebody confirm or deny that Death from Above is non-Season Pass exclusive? --ShardofTruth (talk) 08:28, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

On my 360 edition, with S.P. and the 4.99 "finest" enhancement, there is no mutual exclusivity...just redundancy with many of the gears... Not sure if there are variables here according to different systems, M. Live-purchased editions, etc. however... <--Complete error on my part. I apparently have ADD and confused the gear you mentioned with another similar one - sorry. Exclusive they are, as both are "boots", yes? Sry. The S.P. and I.R. or "Columbia's Finest" special items are detailed on this Wiki...

I don't understand Gear.[]

I mean, Booker doesn't even wear a hat the whole game... Mr Bio Shock 15px-Physical_Tonic.png 21:02, May 12, 2013 (UTC)

They're just equipable items. He has a hat slot just for the hell of it, it's not like Booker's clothes change, or that clothes can actually make a guy create fire from dropping from a rail. It's merely another way to adapt your combat approach. Hawkeye2701 (talk) 00:02, May 13, 2013 (UTC)

Gloves[]

I think they should've made gloves as part of the gear. ZanyDragon (talk) 18:26, September 21, 2013 (UTC)

Burial at Sea Gears[]

Would someone kindly upload the gear for Burial at Sea?

Any sign of any opponent NPCs wearing any such 'Gear' ??[]

Probably a good thing.

It is moreso probably a good thing that we cannot see what Booker looks like wearing this various "Gear", it likely would look REALLY dorky, as much of the SteamPunk stuff does.  Besides them not having to make the models for rendering them (gots my Magic Aiming Hat - eye reticule, Pants of Wonderous Running - giant springs and levers, Vest of Tickle Protection, Sandals of Finding Loose Change).

beta venders?[]

i noted two of what apere to gear venders,i dont know if they were beta venders or just props also thers a tear that opens up to a broken medi vender like in the first two bioshock if that one was a beta vender it was likely cut when doller bills started to sell heath

Youre probably talking about the removed gear vendors, the ones that looked like they were a caricature a jewish person wearing a tailor's outfit. I remember they were supposed to act like columbia's version of the gatherer's garden and gene bank combined.

I honestly think their removal was kind of fitting to columbina as well, since the columbians also show anti-semetic views, it would be logical that they would hate a vendor that looks jewish. In the ghetto area in particular, you can see one with graffiti painted over it as "Heeb" which is probably a shortened slur for "Hebrew"

Gear not "refreshing" after reload[]

I recently made an edit about an autosave happening after lockpicking a door containing gear causing that item to always remain that item even after reloading the save, but now as I've progressed further in this playthrough I'm noticing that seemingly all of the gear I'm coming across is behaving the same way, i.e. it's not changing when I load a save and pick it up. I had previous reloaded a save about five times to pick up a piece of gear in the beginning of the Hall of Heroes, and it would change every time, but after that everything is staying the same.

I removed that edit, since it seems like something else is going on that isn't relevant to lockpicking that particular door or picking up that particular piece of gear, and such. But has anyone else run into that? It's... odd to try and word a question asking if anyone else's attempts to take advantage of a design pseudo-oversight is "bugged", but that's the jist of it.   Ramikadyc (talk) 20:45, June 1, 2014 (UTC)

Question[]

Should we really let people know they can cheat at the bottom? It sort of takes the meaning away from the game in a sense... I don't know...

It's their choice to play the game as it was intended or glitch through it, like the Little Sisters bug in BioShock. Also they can get this info from other websites so it doesn't change anything. Pauolo (talk) 22:22, June 18, 2015 (UTC)

I agree. I know. People will find out what they want if intelligent or resourceful. I guess I was having a moment of "milksop" idealistic romanticism...who knows... I hate milksop types myself... That's a neat word to revive, anyway, I randomly think...

I attained the "Scavenger Hunt" challenge - the difficulty of this "achievement" is reported wildly variably, from super-easy to heroic-level, from gauging "fan response" (total chaos) - I went through the game without using the glitch - took me several, mentally-brutal, yet "fun" hours, sans guides et al. - and exploiting the game there for a brand new player of this game, I non-belligerently opine without authoritative bombast, kind of cheapens things overall, for the new player (aesthetically, experientially) and others, in other dimensions, *in my humble opinion*...

But you are right, in the end; whether publicly put on here or not, it's irrelevant; I am just being a naïve fool; *not* trying to be disputatious...

Also: should I continue to source the real-world historic stuff involved in Bioshock (especially B.I.) as I have very hesitantly begun to do, or just leave things simple and plain, as is...? Not condescending. E.g. I brought up a little background to the imprinting idea (awkwardly) and am not sure if I should just let things be instead with all these articles... I shall follow your advisement, you seem equitably minded and a good regulator hereabouts... Not being sarcastic. I wouldn't mind sprucing things up informational-wise if harmonious to communal wishes... I think Bioshock (at least Bioshock Infinite) is a piece of art worth it, neglected masterpiece, unappreciated owing to popular stupidity honestly...

Im also curious, If there are locations that are guaranteed to have random gear found, what would happen to them if you do the exploit?   ie, if you did get pretty much all the random gear using the exploit, what would happen to the gear boxes found in their regular locations? would they disappear? or would they give duplicate copies of the gear? would it break the game or something?

Sort of like in Fallout, if you use console commands to max out all your stats and level up. When you level up, it would bring you to the stat allocation menu, but if all the stats are already at max, the game would just stay at that menu stuck forever because you cant leave until you use up all the stats, which is impossible because theyre all already maxed out. The only way around this by the way is to force close the game and use console commands to decrease your stats to make room for the new ones.

I somehow got through one full playthrough without getting the "blood to salt" gear[]

For my first ever game of bioshock infinite, I have read up on a lot of things in this wiki.

And I have noticed that the most recommended gear was the Blood to Salt gear.

But for some unfathomable reason, I played through the whole game, trying to unlock as many hidden areas as possible, but still unable to get this legendary gear.

Ive finished my first playthrough on Normal Difficulty, without much of a challenge, But I really hope my new playthrough on Hard difficulty would fare better, since im probably gonna need every bit of salt to survive these damn tanky bullet sponges that my enemies have been buffed to.

NikkoNV (talk) 13:59, November 28, 2015 (UTC)

Because you are not lucky. I got through one full playthrough of 1999 mode without getting the 'Winter Shield' gear in the same vein.

Unused Gear icons[]

I was digging through Special:Unusedimages and stumbled across some of the gear images I uploaded a while back. It appears that in the main game, the image below isn't used at all. What's even more interesting, is that in Burial at Sea - Episode 1 there are even more unused gear icons:

Mainframe98 talk·blog·edits 12:06, October 19, 2016 (UTC)

Well the Hat, Vest, Pants, and Boots images are default images from when you don't have any Gear in the location IIRC. So those are used. Never have been able to figure out what Gear the one with the red X was supposed to be but it might have been that the Gear was cut late in production or it was something used as a "stock" Gear image for when they didn't have a final one ready. sm --Solarmech (talk) 14:12, October 19, 2016 (UTC)

DOH!! I TOTALY forgot I ran across all the Gear being considered for use in BaS Pt1.

BloodSponge, Carver, Executioner, ForeignExchange, GrabBag, Headhunter, JustAFleshWound, LastManStanding, LittleBangTheory, LouisvilleLip, MakeSoup, PerfectStorm, ReinforcedShield, RightHandSpellsHate, RisingBloodlust, RushPatchJob, ShadowLurker, SleightOfHand, SoulTrap, StripStrike, TheBlackKnight, SystemOverload, TrapperKeeper, TrickBullet, TunnelVision, UraniumSlugs, WarmWelcome.

As you may notice many of these have the same names as Gear in the main game. As we know some of the DLC Gear is just a variation on those found in the main game such as "Evil Eye" being a varient of "Rising Bloodlust". Seems someone at Irrational had a liking for Monty Python and the Holy Grail. :) will see if I can dig around and find some description of what these Gear could do. I THINK i might some seen a few. sm --Solarmech (talk) 16:40, October 19, 2016 (UTC)
