SpeedBooster Poster

An advertisement for Speed Booster.

Speed Booster Icon

Speed Booster was a Plasmid that existed in early versions of BioShock, but was ultimately cut from the final version of the game. It allowed the player to run at tremendous speeds for a brief period of time, ultimately serving a function similar to the Aero Dash Plasmid from BioShock 2 Multiplayer.[1] Posters for the Plasmid can still be seen in early screenshots of the game.

    SpeedBooster: Quick like a Fox!

Behind the Scenes[]

  • Although the Plasmid was removed, a reference to it can still be found in-game: If the player would look at the "Evolution in a bottle!" Plasmid poster outside Gardner Delux Modern in the Southern Mall of Fort Frolic with the art subtitles on, it will read: "Quick Like A Fox - Speedbooster". The BioShock Tech Demo shows an early version of the same location with the Speed Booster poster in the place of the Plasmid poster,[1] which reveals that the two posters were switched once Speed Booster was cut, while leaving the subtitles unchanged. The same "Evolution in a bottle!" poster and subtitles also appear outside Robertson's Tobaccoria in Poseidon Plaza, Fort Frolic, which was originally the Speed Booster poster as well.[2]
