Spear

An inactive Trap Spear.

Spears are the harpoon-like ammunition used by the Spear Gun. There are three different kinds of spears:

Spear Ammo Damage: Standard ammunition for the Spear Gun, inflict a high amount of piercing damage. Effectiveness: Effective against most Splicers. Damage Bonus: Splicers killed by this spear will be dragged along by its momentum, while Splicers killed near walls will be nailed to them. Price: $48 (base price), $31 (hacked) Availability: Spears lodged in walls or on the ground can be retrieved.

Rocket Spear Damage: Uncommon ammunition for the Spear Gun, inflicts a high amount of piercing damage, ignites all enemies and objects around them, and explode after a set amount of time upon impact. Effectiveness: Effective against all Splicers and certain Big Daddies. Damage Bonus: Splicers hit by this spear and who survive the initial hit will run towards other Splicers in fear. Splicers killed by the initial hit will stay attached to the spear while it travels forward. Price: $68 (base price), $55 (hacked) Availability: Less common than the standard spears.

“	Rocket Spears are an alternate ammunition for the Speargun. A spear equipped with a timed explosive device that will detonate after a short time. The rocket trail will also set nearby objects on fire.	”

Trap Spear Damage: Rare ammunition for the Spear Gun that contains an electrical trip wire. Effectiveness: Effective against all Splicers and certain Big Daddies. Damage Bonus: Inflict a small amount of piercing damage upon direct hit and a high amount of electrical damage once deployed. These spears are identical in function to the Crossbow's Trap Bolts. Price: $48 (base price), $39 (hacked) Availability: Less common than the standard spears.

Behind the Scenes

• Picking up a thrown Spear with Telekinesis and dropping it will cause it to stick to the floor point forwards, rather than simply fall down and roll.
• The Electromagnetic Locks in Minerva's Den can be disabled with the blast from a Rocket Spear, which would normally require the use of the Gravity Well Plasmid.
