Inside the Railway Cafe.

The Railway Cafe, also known as the Cafeteria, is an eatery located in the Atlantic Express of Rapture. Though entirely optional, Subject Delta may visit this location during the events of BioShock 2.

History[]

Located adjacent to Train Workshop 6B, the Railway Cafe served as a simple yet pleasant cafeteria. With at least five tables, the Cafe could accommodate many of the employees who worked on the physical and business aspects of the Atlantic Express. The restaurant served short order dishes, fried food, as well as baked goods.

After encountering a trio of gossiping Splicers in Workshop 6B, Subject Delta may enter the Railway Cafe if he chooses. Once a respectable business, the Cafe has been torn to pieces and left to rot. In the dining area, the floorboards and wallpaper have been ripped up, water pours in from ceiling, muck and barnacles cover the Little Sister Vent, and the furniture has been tossed. The ceiling fan still spins, but is hanging only by a few wires.

In the kitchen there are several large cooking appliances. A grease fire rages in two of the commercial deep fryers. Several cans and tins of food can be found on the shelves along with the plates.

Behind the kitchen is the back room where non-perishable food, drink, and business documents were stored. In an open suitcase in the rear corner is an audio diary. Upon venturing back here, two Splicers will enter the diner looking for supplies. They can be easily dispatched using the rivets found on the dessert display case or the fuel tanks scattered around the dining area.

Behind the Scenes[]

Sea Gate 12 sign
  • The phonograph on the counter plays "I'm Making Believe" by Ella Fitzgerald and the Ink Spots. It can even be heard while the Splicers discuss Jack's whereabouts.
  • A fallen sign for Sea Gate 12 can be seen outside the window in the back room.
