Main article: Burial at Sea - Episode 2

During the first few weeks of the Rapture Civil WarElizabeth delivers Atlas the Ace in the Hole. The Fin De Siècle can be seen from the window behind him. As she approaches, a powerful explosion occurs within the Boutique, rocking the immediate area and surely killing anyone with in the establishment. After the bomb goes off, the lights of the sign and upper floor begin to flicker.

Somewhere, beyond the sea.

Fin De Siècle Boutiques seen in 1960, with a neon sign as the only light source.

During an after credits scene showing the tail of Apollo Air Flight DF-0301 sinking into the city, the boutique can be seen silhouetted amongst the city lights. All the power to the building has stopped, except for the "Smoking Lady" neon sign, so only its crumbling shape is visible.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • "Fin De Siècle" literally translates as "end of the century." The expression may more generally be understood as "turn of the century," and is especially associated with the end 19th century. It can also be interpreted as the end of an era and the beginning of a new one, for instance the end of Elizabeth's story and the beginning of Jack's, or the ending of Rapture's golden age, and the beginning of the Civil War.
