El Ammo Bandito machines are found throughout Rapture. They sell ammo for conventional weapons (i.e.: not Plasmids, which are powered only by EVE).

As the player progresses further into Rapture, different types of ammo become available.

Quantities of some less common types of ammo in a machine may be limited. Some, such as Electric Gel and Trap Bolts, are not sold by the machines at all.

The amount of various types of ammo you may carry also has limits. The machine will show you for each type of ammo how much you are carrying and what the limit is, so unlike the U-Invent machine, your risk of buying more than you can carry is limited. (It is possible to be carrying near the limit and buy more than the limit. The excess will be left at the machine.) If you are at the limit, the ammo will be grayed out in the machine's listing of ammo.

The machines offer lower prices by hacking. (A downloadable content tonic is available which also lowers prices).

Ammo machines have the same icon on maps as Circus of Values machines, meaning that you have to visit them to know which is which.
