Bolton Photography is a camera producing company found in both Columbia and Rapture. The cameras encountered are wooden box cameras on tripods.

Booker DeWitt's first encounter with one of Bolton Photography's cameras in Columbia is at the Fairgrounds in the Town Center. A photographer can be seen amongst a crowd of Columbia Citizens watching a Handyman presentation at the respective stall, taking shots of the man in the Autobody. The photographer uses a flash-lamp and is under a dark cloth cover to aid in focusing.

In Battleship Bay, a photographer is found at the entrance to the Battleship Bay Gift Shop, doing a photo shoot of a group of hired bodybuilders and models.

Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth also come across Bolton Photography cameras, stored in the abandoned Cunningham Studios of Downtown Emporia.

BioI Shantytown Deceased Handyman Vox Photo Shoot

The trophy shoot.

After entering a Tear in the Bull House Impound of Shantytown to a reality where the Vox Populi revolution was in full action, DeWitt and Elizabeth come across a photo shoot outside the Graveyard Shift with a Bolton Photography camera in use, much like in Battleship Bay, although with a more grim motive. Members of the Vox are posing with the body of Samuel Gerst, a Handyman they killed during the uprising.

BaSE2 Fontaine's Housewares Exit Plaza Tourist Photography Spot

The photography spot.

Main article: Burial at Sea - Episode 2

While in Rapture, Elizabeth finds an abandoned, partly flooded, tourist photography spot in the Exit Plaza of the Housewares Department in Fontaine's. Citizens of Rapture could have their picture taken in front of the large windows looking over the underwater city (now simply a view of the sea floor), the camera being used was that of Bolton Photography.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • The labels on the two cameras found in the Cunningham Studios are reversed.
  • The name of the business is likely a reference to Adam Bolton, a character artist on BioShock Infinite.
  • The Bolton cameras resemble the “wet plate” cameras of the mid and late 1800's. It is unknown why such an archaic looking camera design was used as we see much more advanced cameras in other parts of Columbia.
