BioShock 3

BioShock 3 is an upcoming game in the BioShock franchise, scheduled to be released in 2011 along with the BioShock motion picture.

2K Games announced that Bioshock would indeed be getting a sequel following BioShock 2. Furthermore, the Bioshock franchise was promised two additional sequels/prequels, bringing the total number of games in the franchise up to five.

With Bioshock 2 on the horizon, very little is known on future releases in the franchise. Several theories and rumors suggest that Bioshock 3 could possibly mean the end of Rapture, perhaps carried over from the ending to Bioshock 2. Without proper care for many years, Rapture would begin to fall apart. Water is already leaking into the city, and could completely become a ghost city before long. Another possibility is if the volcanoes under Rapture (which power it through geothermal vents) were to erupt, sundering the city. Splicers could possibly escape to the surface in large numbers, exposing Rapture and all of its secrets, including the major breakthroughs related to ADAM, which may result in a war between countries trying to get ADAM as a new weapon. This is pure speculation, however.
